普通人

她來自希臘，她渴求新知。
她在聖馬丁學院主修雕塑，
我就是在那裡引起她的注意。
她告訴我她老爸錢多的是。

隨筆

據報載，近來俄國在蘇聯瓦解後的新富階級已經覺得一般富人的豪華生活索然無味，為他們安排體驗如乞丐或是妓女等窮苦下層社會生活的公司應運而生。一個準富佬客戶說，過去一直在累積財富，等什麼都有了之後日子變得百般無聊；與三五好友扮成乞丐或皮條客，「眾人大發一笑，那必然相當有趣」。

數月前，台北市也舉辦了大學生體驗貧窮活動，參與的學生平日零用錢開銷不小，藉由此次機會體驗一下節儉度日的生活，大都覺得經驗十分新鮮難得。以不到五十元度過一週生活的學生（真是夭壽省），還受到主辦單位與媒體普遍的讚揚。然而這一週的經驗就足夠讓台灣這一代成長於經濟奇蹟年代中的小孩瞭解貧窮人的生活嗎？貧窮就只是生活拮据，三餐無以為繼嗎？有看不過去的讀者在報上投書表示，物質生活的貧乏並不一定悲哀，許多人在貧窮的生活中努力，充滿對於未來的希望。

看似截然不同的「體驗貧窮」的新聞，最重要的主角──中下階層生活窮苦的人──卻是不在的。貧窮的意義變成只是一種「經驗」，可以被暫時模擬，而不是如果漿合唱團這首＜普通人＞裡所指出來的一種沒有意義、主權與方向的生活，在貧富差距懸殊的社會體制裡，完全看不到希望的「狀態」。

這種貧窮的「狀態」如何能夠被體驗？歌曲中這位富家女對於所謂「普通人」的下層階級生活充滿異國情調的幻想，以為跟普通人交往、做愛，嚐嚐他們油膩而沒有營養的主食炸薯塊，住在爬滿蟑螂的租屋裡就可以感受普通人的生活。只要這種生活可以隨時喊停（如俄國「體驗貧窮」遊戲總是買通警察在假扮乞丐的富佬附近守候），那就不可能真正進入貧窮的「狀態」裡。這種貧窮不是錢多錢少的問題，而社會公義的問題︰一個社會是否提供它的百姓有足夠資源能夠過一個有基本尊嚴與希望的生活。

其實，我們真的需要去「體驗」貧窮才能知道這種貧窮這種社會狀態不該存在嗎？社會無可避免的會有各種標準去劃分不同階層。如果「普通人」指的是只是社會地位不高，經濟能力不強，那生命閃耀的「普通人」的生活可能是許多富豪望塵莫及的。但如果那是一個貧窮狀態的標誌，我們富裕的人無法感同身受亦罷，卻還要拿他人的痛苦當玩笑，即使不被咬得體無完膚，也該遭受大家的唾棄吧。

聖馬丁學院是知名的人文學院，她唸的科系是雕塑，也通常是貴族子弟才唸得起的。

chip stain’s grease
chip 指的是英國常見的炸薯條（勞工階級常吃的食物，在美國叫做fry）chip stain 是炸薯條留下來的污髒，chip stain's grease 是污髒處的油脂。

他們會把你痛扁一頓，因為大家都痛恨觀光客（拿別人的苦難當作自己偷窺好奇的快樂的心態），特別是覺得窮苦是一件好笑的人（完全無法感同身受）

然後只能跳跳舞、喝酒、做愛，因為不知道還可以做什麼。

你會訝異這些（普通、窮苦的）人竟然存在於社會中，而且那麼顯而易見（burn_so_bright，這裡的燃燒有暗示他們生活痛苦的含意），但是歌曲也有可能在說你會發現他們的生活過得十分有意義（燒出光亮）
