週末夜的心坎是什麼？

當了這好些年的老師，看了好些的學生一年一年從大學畢業，進入他們越來越焦慮的社會生活。他們終於必須要面對原來生活是自己的事這個事實。有人未雨綢繆，早早到專攻研究所的補習班補了一身考試本領，已經有一、二個補習班的入學通知在手，好整以暇地穿著畢業服四處照相。有人到了這個時候才發現自己心理或是能力還沒有裝備好，寧願留下來再唸一年。更多數的人硬著頭皮進入職場，戰戰兢兢開始當起朝九晚五既陌生又疲累的「上班族」

不論是留在學校的，唸研究所的，還是上班的，如果週一到週五的學校或是職場生活對你而言都是你為了宏大的前途或是三餐的溫飽，不得不忍氣吞聲度日如年，或是從週一踏進辦公室起就一頭栽進業務攪拌機裡，到週六中午刷牙時才從一週的忙亂暈眩中稍微清醒過來，你大概到了週末夜晚，就會像湯姆‧維茲這首歌所唱的一樣，迫不亟待地希望無憂無慮地躺臥在週末夜的心坎裡。

我在想，每個星期那五天的工作要多麼忙碌，厭惡，或是多麼沒有意義，才會讓你到了週末的時候，恨不得身上不留一絲相干的氣味？生活要寂寞到什麼地步，才會讓你在酒吧裡，雖然愛人在身邊，但聽著撞球檯傳來的撞球聲，霓虹燈茲茲作響的聲音，看著酒吧女侍若有若無的笑容，不決留下落寞的眼淚？

找尋「週末夜的心坎」，聽起來像是「週」而復始的無止盡追尋。那必定不是一間酒吧，一種氣氛可以充數的，而是一種難以捉摸的感覺－－當走進你上週曾經盡興的地方，輕吮一口上週曾經點的酒，播放上週曾經心醉的音樂，週末夜的心坎還是與你若即若離，就像酒吧女侍眼角似有若無的笑。

這或許就是朝九晚五的都市生活宿命的藍調吧。

Barrel 是桶子；當動詞時是「裝桶」或是「快速移動」或是「毫不猶豫」的意思

the heart of (something) 指的是某種東西的本質、核心

you get all tinglin'
tingle 是像針刺那樣麻癢的感覺，也指強烈的興奮或害怕的感覺

you're cruisin' with a six
a six = a six-cylinder engine/car 六氣缸引擎或汽車

Telephone's ringin', it's your second cousin
這一句沒頭沒尾的，只能猜是跟前面的撞球聲還有霓虹燈的茲茲響的聲音都是在描寫在酒吧裡的情形

smilin' from the corner of her eye
from/out the corner of ones eye = 不是很清楚或是不太確定地看到；這裡說酒吧女侍的笑容是在她的眼角，指的應該是她的笑容不是很清楚

Magic of the melancholy tear
melancholy tear 指的是因憂鬱而留下的眼淚；magic 一方面形容這眼淚湧出的感覺，另一方面也指它所引發的作用（其實就是流淚的心情）

quiver down in the core
quiver 在這裡形容的是眼淚不是直直流下，而是如在玻璃上的雨水七轉八折地流下，一方面流下的時間需要較長，因此表示情緒的複雜與感動的時間並非只是瞬間；另一方面眼淚的顫抖，其實就是整個人在心底最深處（core）的顫抖

stumblin' onto the heart of Saturday night
stumble on (someone/something) 是巧遇某人或碰巧遭遇什麼事的意思；這裡用stumbling "onto" 因為原本就在找尋，因此遇見時好像就是朝著對方一跤跌上去一樣。
